Paul did an excellent job troubleshooting a 16 year old concealed Hudson Reed shower. He replaced the thermostatic valve and old Bristan power pump with a Stuart Turner Showermate. All working perfectly now with a much quieter pump too!

Boiler Installations & Upgrades

Clearwater Plumbing & Heating fit modern condensing Boilers, which are incredibly efficient, running at efficiency levels of 90-99% (depending on the make and type of Boiler fitted).

Meaning only between 1-9% of the fuel is wasted, whereas older Boilers can waste up to 50% of all fuel burned.

A modern condensing Boiler captures flue gases and reuses them to heat water an efficient recycling method, which saves money on fuel bills and lowers the household carbon footprint.

If you have an old Boiler, we can remove it and fit a new one. Alternatively, we can fit you a new central heating system complete with Boiler, radiators, cylinder (if required), thermostatic valves and controls.

Types Of Boiler

Boilers run off Gas, Electricity, Oil or LPG. The first step is to pick a Boiler that runs off fuel available at your property.

Size Of Boiler

Boilers come in different sizes to serve different types of homes. A one-bedroom flat only needs a small Boiler, whereas a sizeable six-bedroom property will need a more powerful Boiler to supply multiple taps and radiators. One of our engineers will pick the best size Boiler for your home.

Combination, System or Regular

Boiler types include Combination, System and Regular (also known as traditional). The best Boiler for your home will depend on your heating consumption and hot water usage.

Combination Boilers

Combination Boilers account for around 50% of all Boilers fitted in the UK. Combi’s don’t use a hot water storage cylinder or water tanks, making them the most space-efficient.

As soon as a tap or the showers are switched on, the combi boiler heats the water instantly as the water flows through a heating element.

Combination Boilers work at mains pressure, which can be a disadvantage if you live in a low-pressure area. There’s also no hot water storage, so you will be left without hot water in the event of a boiler breakdown.

Combination Boilers are best for small to medium-sized homes.

System Boilers

System Boilers heat and store hot water in a pressurised water cylinder. A good supply of Hot water is then available whenever you need it.

The pressurised cylinder also includes a backup immersion heater. If your Boiler breaks down, you can still have a supply of hot water while waiting for a repair.

System Boilers are more expensive to install than combination Boilers, and space is required for the cylinder.

System Boilers are better for medium to larger-sized homes with more than one bathroom.

Regular Boilers

Regular Boilers serve traditional systems, which use water/feed and expansion tanks in conjunction with a vented, unpressurised cylinder.

The system works on gravity and is suitable for supplying homes with multiple taps and bathrooms with a continuous supply of hot water.

Regular Systems are complicated to fit, requiring the most parts and space. It’s for this reason that they are not often fitted these days, only in homes with existing old regular systems and extensive properties.
