Why Have A Boiler Service?
Warranties
All Boiler manufacturers recommend that their Boiler is serviced annually by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
Neglecting servicing invalidates the manufacturer’s warranties. Also, many home emergency service cover policies require annual Boiler servicing for validation (for boiler breakdown)
Leaks
Boilers are fuel-burning appliances that are used daily, so vital internal parts get dirty and need cleaning.
Boilers also deal with water, which is corrosive by nature. Boilers (especially older ones) are prone to springing leaks.
During the service, we’ll check for leaks around the casing and the inside pipework. All seals are checked for tightness and adjusted as necessary.
If seals are corroded and leaking, they are replaced. Faulty valves can also leak, usually caused by incorrect pressure in the system. All valves are checked for leaks and to ensure that they function correctly.
Consistent running
Water flow is checked. Incorrect flow is usually caused by limescale or debris in the system, which can cause the boiler to switch off, resulting in constant annoyance and inconvenience.
Efficiency
For efficient running, Boilers need to burn gas at the proper rate. The gas burn rate is checked and adjusted until it’s burning at the correct rate.
This ensures waste fuel is minimised and your Boiler will run at maximum efficiency.
Safety
For Boilers to run safely, the flue and ventilation must be expel all noxious gases that can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
By testing the flue and ventilation, we ensure that carbon monoxide isn’t a risk.
While servicing dramatically reduces the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, you want to be as safe as possible.
The Boilers also checked for leaking gas, which can be fatal.
All safety devices (which prevent damage in case the Boiler ever suddenly stops) are checked to ensure they’re working correctly.
System Check
After the service, we’ll switch your Boiler and make sure it’s running correctly. We can check that radiators are warming up and bleed as necessary.
Recommendations
Boiler servicing uncovers issues, for which we can make recommendations that you can plan for at a future date.
Service Record
A service record is written, which you can keep for your records and in case you ever need to claim on your Boiler warranty or home insurance.

We Repair All Boilers
- Gas
- Electric
- Oil
- Combi
- System
- Regular
- Of any make
We repair Gas, Oil and Electric Boilers, whether they are Combination, System or Regular Boilers. All makes are included, such as Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Potterton, Baxi, etc. Whatever make of Boiler you have, we can repair it.
Combination Boilers are simple to repair as everything is housed within the Boiler itself. System and Regular Boilers can be more complicated as a cylinder is included in the central heating system.
Common Boiler Problems
Here are some common Boiler problems that can cause the Boiler to fail and stop working.
If you’re experiencing any issues with your Boiler it’s best to get the issue resolved before the Boiler fails.
Small issues can lead to more significant and more expensive problems in the form of Boiler damage.
Nip the problem in the bud with a repair, and you won’t experience any unnecessary Boiler failure.
Extinguishing Pilot Light
If your pilot light keeps blowing out, you probably have a faulty thermocouple, which is preventing enough gas from getting through.
A simple thermocouple replacement will get your Boiler back up and running.
Leaks
Over time, the continuous flow of water causes valves and sealsto wear and leak.
The problem is exacerbated by unnecessary high pressure (Boiler pressure is checked during servicing and repairs).
Always get leaks looked at as they can corrode and damage parts of the Boiler and areas of your home.
Low Pressure
Low pressure will cause the Boiler to switch off continuously. Low pressure is caused by incorrect settings or leaking (see above)
Kettling
Limescale is inevitable in central heating systems. If a large enough piece gets lodged in the heat exchanger, it’ll overheat and make strange noises.
Get these noises checked out, left alone long enough, and your Boiler could come to an abrupt halt.
Frozen Pipe
Modern condensing Boilers utilise a condensing pipe which runs outside and is vulnerable to cold weather (if not adequately insulated). If the pipe freezes, it’ll stop your Boiler. Defrosting the pipe will get your Boiler back working.
