Paul did an excellent job troubleshooting a 16 year old concealed Hudson Reed shower. He replaced the thermostatic valve and old Bristan power pump with a Stuart Turner Showermate. All working perfectly now with a much quieter pump too!
First class, friendly efficient service.

Had an issue with our solar hot water system.
Guy who arrived was extremely friendly and professional as well as keeping his work area clean and tidy.
He kept me informed of what needed doing in the future and got our system up and running again.
Really pleased with the work carried out and the price was reasonable as well.

What's more to like!!

Thanks again for your great service. I'll look forward to using you again in the future.

The Right Boiler for Your Ipswich Home

Choosing the right Boiler for your home can be daunting with the variety of options available in the UK market. Several key factors need to be considered to select the best Boiler for your needs, including:

  • The size of your home
  • Your current heating system
  • The number of people living in your home
  • The number of bathrooms in your home
  • The number of radiators in your home
  • Your household’s hot water requirements

A new Boiler is an investment that will serve your home efficiently for at least a decade, so making the correct choice is essential. That’s why we provide free, no-obligation surveys and quotes to help you make an informed decision.

Home Size

The size of your home helps determine the type and size of the Boiler required. Larger homes with multiple floors and numerous rooms need a more powerful Boiler to ensure consistent heating. In contrast, smaller homes will be adequately served by a less powerful, more compact boiler.

Existing Heating System

Your current heating system will also influence your Boiler choice. If you have an older system, it might need upgrading to accommodate a new, more efficient Boiler.

Number Of People

The number of people living in your home affects your hot water and heating requirements. Larger households with more people will naturally use more hot water and require a Boiler that can handle higher demand. On the other hand, a smaller household can often get by with a smaller, less powerful Boiler.

Number Of Bathrooms & Radiators

The number of bathrooms and radiators in your home is another factor. Homes with multiple bathrooms and numerous radiators will require a Boiler with a higher output to ensure all areas are adequately heated and have sufficient hot water for simultaneous use in different parts of the house.

Boiler Types

Boilers come in various types, each suited to different home heating needs.

Combination Boilers

Combination or combi boilers are the most commonly installed in Ipswich. They are all-in-one units that do not require separate components like a pump or cylinder. This makes them highly efficient and space-saving, ideal for small to mid-sized homes. They provide hot water on demand, perfect for homes with lower hot water requirements.

System Boilers

System boilers include a pressurised cylinder that stores hot water, providing a steady supply to meet the needs of mid to larger-sized homes. They are typically installed out of sight in a cupboard and can deliver hot water to multiple taps simultaneously without a significant pressure drop.

Regular Boilers

Regular traditional boilers use a vented cylinder with feed and expansion tanks. These systems are often found in older homes with existing regular Boiler setups. They are suitable for large homes with high hot water demands. Upgrading from a regular/traditional to a system or combi boiler can enhance efficiency and free up space.

Boiler Sizes & Fuel Types

Boilers come in various sizes, typically measured in kilowatts (kW), to match different heating needs.

  • 24 to 27 kW: Suitable for homes with up to 10 radiators.
  • 28-34 kW: Ideal for homes with 10-15 radiators.
  • 35 to 42 kW: Best for homes with over 15 radiators.

Choosing the correct size ensures your home is adequately heated without wasting energy.

Fuel Types

Boilers operate on different fuel types, including:

  • Gas is the most common and economical option and is also environmentally friendly.
  • Electric: The safest option with no risk of carbon monoxide emissions.
  • Oil: Suitable for rural homes not connected to the gas grid.

Brands & Energy Efficiency

At Clearwater Plumbing & Heating, we install all major boiler brands, including Worcester Bosch, Baxi, Potterton, Vaillant, and more. These brands are known for their reliability, efficiency, and long service life.

Modern boilers are incredibly energy-efficient, with condensing boilers running at 90-98% efficiency. Only 2-10% of energy is wasted during fuel burning.

Older boilers, in contrast, may operate at as low as 55% efficiency, meaning up to 45% of the fuel is wasted. Upgrading to a new Boiler can reduce your energy bills and carbon footprint.

Professional Guidance

Choosing the right Boiler involves:

  • Understanding your specific heating and hot water needs.
  • Considering the size and layout of your home.
  • Select a system that matches these requirements.

At Clearwater Plumbing & Heating, we offer expert advice and installation services. One of our experienced engineers can visit your home to assess your current system, discuss your needs, and provide a free, no-obligation quote for the best Boiler for you.
