Paul did an excellent job troubleshooting a 16 year old concealed Hudson Reed shower. He replaced the thermostatic valve and old Bristan power pump with a Stuart Turner Showermate. All working perfectly now with a much quieter pump too!
First class, friendly efficient service.

Why & When You Should Consider A New Boiler

Considering the installation of a new Boiler is a significant decision for homeowners, involving considerations about home comfort, energy efficiency, and financial investment. Here are key reasons and situations when replacing your Boiler is advisable:

Age Of Your Existing Boiler

Most Boilers have a lifespan of approximately 10-15 years. If your Boiler is nearing or has surpassed this age, its efficiency and reliability are likely decreasing. Replacement ensures energy efficiency and safety.

Frequent Breakdowns

Regular breakdowns and constant repairs can be costly. When repairs become frequent, investing in a new, more reliable Boiler is often more economical than persistently fixing an old one.

Rising Energy Bills

An increase in energy bills can indicate your Boiler’s efficiency is declining, especially if it’s an old, non-condensing model. New Boilers can significantly reduce heating costs.

Safety Concerns

Older Boilers can develop safety issues, such as the risk of carbon monoxide leaks. If your Boiler is showing such signs or has been flagged during an inspection, replacing it is essential for the safety of your household.

Insufficient Heating or Hot Water

If your Boiler struggles to provide adequate heating or hot water, it may no longer be able to meet your household’s demands. A new Boiler can offer improved and more consistent performance.

Home Renovations Or Extension

Renovating or expanding your home can increase your heating demands. Your old Boiler might not be sufficient for these new requirements, making the installation of a new Boiler with the appropriate capacity a sensible decision.

Advancements in Technology

Modern Boilers are more efficient and environmentally friendly and often have advanced features like smart controls. Upgrading to a new Boiler can provide a more cost-effective and manageable heating system.

Understanding Your Boiler Installation Needs

Selecting the right Boiler for your home or business requires careful consideration and an understanding of various factors.

The goal is to ensure that the Boiler meets your heating needs, your energy efficiency goals and budget.

This is why we offer free, no-obligation surveys. Professional guidance by one of our engineers will establish the best type and make of Boiler for your home and budget.

Assessing Your Home, Heating System & Needs

The first step is to determine the most appropriate Boiler for your home, heating system, and heating and hot water consumption.

Types Of Boiler

There are three main types of Boilers: combi, system, and regular.

  • Combi Boilers are compact and efficient, ideal for smaller homes with limited space, as they do not require a separate hot water cylinder.
  • System Boilers are better for homes with multiple bathrooms, as they simultaneously provide a constant hot water supply to several taps.
  • Regular Boilers have separate hot water storage tanks and are well-suited for larger homes with higher hot water demands.

Property Size & Layout

The size and layout of your property play a crucial role in determining the Boiler size and type. A larger home with multiple bathrooms will have different requirements than a one-bedroom home.

Usage Demands

We’ll consider your hot water and heating needs, as well as your household’s size, typical consumption patterns, and other factors that will influence the Boiler’s type, capacity, and efficiency.

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is a significant consideration, especially with rising energy costs and environmental concerns. Modern Boilers are rated for efficiency; selecting a high-efficiency model can lead to savings over time.

Budget

While investing in a quality Boiler is important, it needs to fit within your budget. While they save money, the most energy-efficient Boilers tend to have a higher upfront price, which isn’t always feasible for some budgets.

The Role Of A Professional Survey

Our free, no-obligation professional surveys are invaluable in establishing the best Boiler for your home and needs.

Experienced engineers will evaluate your property’s heating requirements, suggest the most suitable Boiler types, and advise on the best models in your budget range.

They will also identify any additional work necessary, such as upgrading radiators or installing new pipework, to ensure the new Boiler operates efficiently and safely.

A survey ensures that the selected Boiler meets your current needs and aligns with your long-term expectations and future changes to your heating and hot water usage.

Free No-Obligation Quote

Following your survey, the Gas engineer will go away and obtain prices for your new Boiler and the required parts. You will then receive a no-obligation quote.

The Boiler Installation Process

A well-executed installation ensures optimal efficiency, safety, and longevity of your Boiler.

This section outlines the typical steps involved in the Boiler installation process, the safety measures adhered to, and what homeowners can expect regarding duration and disruption.

  1. Removal of the Old Boiler: If an existing Boiler is replaced, the old one will be safely disconnected and removed. This step involves draining the existing system and ensuring all gas, electricity, or oil supplies are safely capped off.
  2. Installation of the New Boiler: The new Boiler is installed in the designated location. This step includes connecting the Boiler to water pipes, gas or oil pipes, and the electrical system, as applicable.
  3. System Testing and Commissioning: The Boiler is filled with water and started up once installed. The installer will check for leaks, test all controls, and ensure the system operates efficiently and safely.
  4. Final Inspection and Customer Demo: The installer conducts a final inspection to ensure everything is in order and briefs the customer on how to operate the new Boiler and its thermostat controls.
  5. Gas Safety Certificate: A Gas Installation Certificate, often called a Gas Safety Certificate, is written and issued. This document verifies that a Gas Safe registered engineer installed the Boiler and is safe for use.

Benefits You’ll Enjoy From A New Boiler

After installing your new Boiler, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits that contribute to improved home comfort and energy/money savings. These benefits include:

Improved Energy Efficiency

Your new Boiler will be more energy-efficient than your old one, especially if upgrading from a non-condensing to a condensing Boiler.

Higher efficiency means more energy is converted into heat, reducing energy consumption and lowering heating bills.

Enhanced Heating Control

Modern Boilers have advanced control systems, including programmable thermostats and smart home integration.

This allows for more precise control over home heating, enabling you to create a comfortable living environment while managing energy usage more effectively.

Increased Reliability & Reduced Breakdowns

New Boilers are less likely to suffer from breakdowns compared to older, worn-out Boilers. This reliability reduces the inconvenience and cost associated with repair work.

Better Safety

Older Boilers can develop safety issues, including the risk of carbon monoxide leaks. New Boilers have the latest safety features and are less likely to produce carbon monoxide.

Enhanced Home Comfort

A new Boiler provides a more consistent and efficient heating experience, eliminating cold spots and ensuring a comfortable temperature throughout the home.

This is particularly noticeable in homes upgrading from an older, less efficient system.

Environmental Benefits

With higher energy efficiency, new Boilers have a smaller carbon footprint. For environmentally conscious homeowners, this means contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and lowering your carbon footprint.

Increased Property Value

Homes with a new, efficient heating system are often more attractive to potential buyers or renters. This can increase the property’s value and appeal to buyers and renters.

Warranty & Peace of Mind

New Boilers come with a manufacturer’s warranty of up to 12 years (depending on make and model), offering protection against faults and breakdowns.

This provides you with additional peace of mind, knowing that you are covered in the event of any issues.
